FAM report: travel execs experience Bavaria
The German National Tourist Office, Lufthansa and the state of Bavaria hosted an executive FAM trip between June 20-26, 2017, aimed at showcasing a lesser-known Germany.
Participants were given the opportunity to visit the city of Munich, wear Lederhosen, discover beer gardens, visit the BMW world and learn about the royal purveyors of former kings; the trip also showcased various off-the-beaten-path experiences like hiking up Neuschwanstein Castle and overnighting in the picturesque town of Füssen, near the castle.
A visit to the quaint Alpine village of Mittenwald was also featured, with the group enjoying lunch in the Market restaurant, a one-star Michelin restaurant. Later, the group travelled to the five-star Castle Elmau, which hosted the G7 summit in 2015, before taking in Garmisch-Patenkirchen, the host city of the 1936 Olympic games and home to Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
The tour also visited Oberammergau, the village renowned for its performance of the passion play every 10 years.
