Wet & wild: SKAL Toronto golf event a success
A downpour on the green didn’t dampen the outpouring of support at the SKAL Toronto Club golf tournament on Aug. 10, 2015.
More than 125 golfers, volunteers and guests came together at the Royal Woodbine Golf Course in Etobicoke, and although the game ended early due to inclement weather, spirits remained high as participants reconvened back at the clubhouse for indoor activities and a prize-filled dinner event.
“We had a great turnout,” Brent Bowes, president of SKAL International Toronto, said to PAX of the tournament, which is held annually in support of Skal's charity of choice, the Daily Bread Foodbank. “We should be able to make a great contribution with the [participation] that we received today.”
The evening following the tournament included a variety of raffles, contests and a live auction, all with awards from the event’s numerous sponsors.
Winners of the day included:
Closest to the Keg: Paul Foster
Longest Drive – Ladies: Karen Cullen
Longest Drive – Men: James Nienhuis
Closest to the Pin – Ladies: Sandy Pretty
Closest to the Pin – Men: Andres Van Der Merwe
