Travel industry gives back at Transat events

Travel agents and various other industry members showed great generosity during the Transat Sun Academies cross-Canada tour in September, contributing a total of $6,300 to SOS Children’s Villages.

The organization, present in 134 countries, is the world’s largest charity providing loving homes for children who have been abandoned or orphaned, Transat said.

“A big thank-you to all the advisors who gave so generously to this cause that we care so much about,” said Nicole Bursey, commercial director for Transat Tours Canada. “We already know that this money will go toward helping children who really need it.”

All Sun Academy participant-donors were eligible to win an all-inclusive holiday package at a Hard Rock Hotel. There were four lucky winners:

  • Marcia George, Carlson Wagonlit, Calgary
  • Nathalie Mirasse, CAA Quebec
  • Pam McLeod, CAA Pickering
  • Jen Borden, Sears Travel, Halifax

Transat has been a SOS Children’s Villages partner since the fall of 2009. This organization became the first humanitarian cause to be supported by the entire company, as a way to show Transat’s commitment to communities in its origin and destination countries. Transat has given a total of over $2 million to the organization since the beginning of this association.
