Destination Canada & TIAC partner up
Destination Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) have entered into a new cooperative agreement, effective Aug. 1, 2015.
Under the agreement, industry events aimed at bringing Canada’s tourism sector together for business purposes, including the Tourism Congress, Rendez-vous Canada, GoMedia Canada and Tourism Town Halls, will be co-managed by the two organizations.
The two organizations have worked alongside each other for many years, both existing to support the tourism sector across Canada; Destination Canada markets the country as a destination, and TIAC represents businesses within the industry in the interest of growth and development.
In a release from Destination Canada, the organization explained that “the new cooperative agreement allows each to focus on its core roles and responsibilities… and deliver a series of industry engagement events with a goal to build capacity, increase export readiness and strengthen global competitiveness.”
Destination Canada CEO David Goldstein was formerly the CEO of TIAC, a position that was filled by Charlotte Bell when Goldstein moved on to his current role.
The partnership commences August 1, 2015 and runs to December 31, 2016, with options to renew.
