New representation for Barbados in North America

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has appointed travel marketing agency Development Counsellors International (DCI) as Agency of Record for the destination’s tourism promotion in the United States and Canada.

DCI will handle public relations and marketing initiatives throughout North America, with a focus toward driving tourism growth and raising Barbados’ profile as a leading travel destination in the Caribbean.

“We have been looking for an innovative approach to our North American public relations strategy and DCI showcased a deep understanding of our current market position and the challenges we face in increasing visitor arrivals,” stated William “Billy” Griffith, CEO of BTMI.

“Together, we will continue to differentiate Barbados from our sister islands by amplifying our diverse accommodation product, from luxury properties to family-friendly affordable options. The island also features endemic natural wonders like Harrison’s Cave, legendary festivals such as Crop Over and world-class annual sporting events.

“Its most notable tie to Canada – the Commonwealth – showcases Barbados’ strongest feature of cultural heritage. We anticipate many new and inspiring stories about Barbados in these markets that will ultimately inspire Canadian visitation.”

“We are thrilled to be showcasing Barbados to new audiences across North America,” commented Karl Leigh Barnes, managing partner of the Tourism Practice of Development Counsellors International. “Our strategy is to elevate Barbados’ position as a destination, rife with remarkable travel options for both jetsetters and families.”
