Toronto agents Discover Quebec

Toronto-area agents met with nearly 40 exhibitors showcasing the attractions and accommodations offered in La Belle Province, during last night's 2014 Discover Quebec travel marketplace.

As one main focus at the event, Tourisme Québec unveiled Le Monastère des Augustines, a restored and redesigned heritage site hotel opening April 2015 that offers guests the chance to take a vacation from technology with its no-wifi and no-tv accommodations.

The unique concept for this wellness hotel, located in the heart of old Quebec, blends culture, heritage and holistic health. Guests can enjoy healthy vitality meals, access to the museum and heritage site as well as meditation, massages, relaxation, and yoga.

Emphasizing Québec as a unique Canadian destination, François Jean Viel, Director of Destination Tourisme Québec, sees the province as an ideal location for tourists seeking rest and wellness to experience this specialty hotel.

Offering guests a getaway from their gadgets (a trend catching on in the hotel industry) will certainly inspire travellers to spend more time absorbing Québec's abundance of sites and activities.

The latest QuébecOriginal campaign focuses on the nature, music, and creativity of the province and entices visitors to immerse themselves in the year-round natural beauty, outdoor adventures and art festivals unique to Québec.

Specialty hotels have become noteworthy attractions to the province's tourist appeal. Québec City's Ice Hotel, Montréal's Habitat 67, and Saint-Felicien's Innu teepees all offer unconventional accommodations that showcase Tourisme Québec's creative edge in the industry.

Jean Viel also brought Bienvenue Québec to the spotlight, a three day tourism industry business convention taking place at the Québec City Convention Centre from Oct. 28 to 30. Considered Québec tourism's prime event for business development, it facilitates nearly 100 travel agencies, receptives and tour operators to get acquainted with more than 300 suppliers from the province of Québec and Eastern Canada.
