Suspected cocaine seizure at YYZ

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized more than 11 kg of suspected cocaine on Jan. 30 at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.

CBSA officers monitoring the offloading of baggage on a flight from Curacao deployed a detector dog, leading officers to inspect two suitcases. Following examination of the suitcases, officers discovered 11 bricks containing a substance that, when field tested, was positive for suspected cocaine.

The packages were turned over to the Peel Regional Police and the investigation is ongoing.

In 2014, the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Area made 180 cocaine seizures totaling over 954 kg.
