Sunwing launches donation program for Jamaica hurricane recovery

Sunwing has launched a donation initiative to support Jamaica's recovery following a category 5 hurricane in November 2025, with funds directed to GlobalMedic, a registered Canadian charity.

From December 1-14, Sunwing will donate $100 for every package booking for two or more travellers made to Jamaica by Canadian residents, and $50 for solo traveller bookings. 

During the same period, its partner NexusTours will contribute $40 for every Jamaican excursion booked.

The donations will support communities and families across the island.

"For every Jamaica booking, you're giving back in two ways: You're giving back by getting tourism back on its feet and also giving to GlobalMedic so that they can do their work," Andrew Dawson, president of Sunwing Vacations Group, told PAX on November 26.

Tourism directly employed 175,000 Jamaicans as of 2022 and supported an additional 354,000 through indirect jobs.

"We encourage everybody to book a Sunwing Vacations package, because this is restoring our communities," said Angella Bennett, regional director, Canada, for the Jamaica Tourist Board.

Sunwing also recently introduced its Verified Jamaica Collection to support the island's tourism recovery. 

Sunwing's teams have independently visited select properties to confirm they are fully operational and ready to welcome guests.

The verification process assessed resort operations including accommodations, dining options and service; facilities including pools and beach areas; and transfer services and resort amenities. 

Properties carrying the Verified Jamaica Collection badge have been confirmed as operational. 

Additional assessments are underway, with more properties expected to be added to the collection as recovery efforts continue.
