Uber hotel bookings now live in Canada
Uber is expanding its travel offerings in Canada with the launch of Hotels on Uber, making Canada the first market outside the United States to gain access to the new booking feature.
Powered by a partnership with Expedia Group, the service allows Canadians to browse, book and arrange rides to hotels directly within the Uber app.
The platform will eventually offer access to more than 700,000 properties in destinations worldwide.
Uber One members receive additional perks, including 10 per cent back in Uber credits on hotel bookings and exclusive discounts at a curated collection of more than 10,000 hotels.
The Canadian rollout is part of Uber's broader strategy to become a one-stop travel companion, following a series of travel-focused announcements unveiled at its GO-GET event earlier this year.
Among the new features is Travel Mode, a location-aware concierge that provides destination recommendations, OpenTable restaurant reservations and in-app "room service" delivery after travellers arrive.
Uber also introduced Uber One International, which extends membership perks such as ride credits and $0 delivery fees while travelling abroad, and One Search, a single search bar that lets users browse rides, food delivery and retail options in one place.
