Porter adds Apple’s Share Item Location feature to baggage recovery process
Porter Airlines has enabled Apple’s Share Item Location feature to enhance its baggage recovery process.
Customers can now easily and securely share the location of their AirTag or Find My network accessory with Porter to help locate mishandled or delayed baggage.
“Porter wants your travel experience to be as seamless as possible, and that means recovering quickly when things don’t go as planned,” the airline wrote in a statement to social media on Wednesday (Feb. 5).

To enable the feature, travellers can follow these steps:
- Open the Find My network accessory on your iPhone
- Under ‘Devices’ select your Air Tag
- Copy the link and share with a customer service representative or add it to your baggage tracking application
For customers’ privacy and security, location sharing will automatically end as soon as a customer is reunited with their bag, can be stopped by the customer at any time, and will automatically expire after seven days.
Porter is one of several airlines that have added Apple’s location feature. Air Canada introduced the tracking tool late last year, while Lufthansa Group Airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings), as well as Virgin Atlantic launched it this week.
The function is available in most regions worldwide as part of the public beta of iOS 18.2 and is available to all users as a free software update for iPhone Xs and later.
