Jeff Carpenter departs Royal Caribbean to pursue new travel opportunity
Jeff Carpenter is leaving his position at Royal Caribbean International (RCI) to pursue a new role in the travel industry.
Carpenter, who joined RCI in August of last year as a strategic account manager for Western Canada, will soon take on a “slightly different” role in travel that will allow for a better work/life balance, according to a Facebook post Carpenter wrote on Monday (Feb. 3).
“I didn't envision that I would be writing this post just one year later, but life is full of amazing twists and turns in this incredible journey!” Carpenter wrote, calling his departure from RCI a “difficult decision.”
“After 15 years on the road, it's time for a slightly different role in the industry that will allow for a better work/life balance that I'm very much looking forward to,” he wrote.
Carpenter, who previously worked at TravelBrands for many years, goes on to thank Royal Caribbean, calling it a “top-class organization.”
He also thanks Lisa Connell, director of sales, Canada at RCI, for the “amazing opportunity.”
“It was an incredible, record breaking year, and I've learned so much that I will bring with me in my next chapter,” Carpenter wrote, thanking RCI’s Canada team as well. “Keep killing it, and you will still see me around.”
Carpenter also gave a shout out to his fellow “road warriors” who spend “countless nights away from home.”
“You've been like a second family to me,” he said. “Our paths will continue to cross at some conferences and events, and I look forward to still hanging out with all of you!”
Carpenter told PAX that he will announce his new job next week.
