Universal Orlando reveals details about new waterpark
Universal Orlando has revealed details about a highly-anticipated new waterpark that it is planning to open next year.
Universal’s Volcano Bay, an innovative theme park opening in 2017 at Universal Orlando Resort, will feature 28 acres of 18 unique attractions in four imaginatively-themed areas.
The innovative water park will feature winding rivers and private, two-story cabanas to family raft rides and twisting body slides that launch guests above the water.
Volcano Bay will “redefine the queue experience so guests can focus entirely on having fun and spending time together” and so they “won’t have to stand in long lines or wrestle with tubes,” the company stated in a release.
The park was imagined by Universal Creative, the same team that created theme park experiences like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
Other features of the park include a multi-directional wave pool with sandy beaches, a winding river, twisting multi-rider raft rides and speeding body slides that drop from the top of the volcano into the waters below.
Volcano Bay will be located within Universal Orlando, adjacent to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. The water theme park is a short walk or ride away from Universal Orlando’s two additional theme parks – Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, on-site hotels and Universal CityWalk.
Universal Orlando will soon introduce a new three-park Explorer ticket for guests where they can plan to experience Volcano Bay for travel dates beginning June 1, 2017.
Tickets will be available soon, the company stated.
