TravelBrands' golf tourney a hole-in-one for Sick Kids hospital
Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children was the big winner yesterday, as TravelBrands hosted their third annual charity golf classic raising $182,500 for the hospital.
The tournament, hosted at Eagles Nest Golf Club just north of Toronto in Vaughan, welcomed golfers from the travel industry and beyond for a day on the links and despite the chance of thunderstorms, the weather cooperated for the tournament’s most successful year to date.
Following the tournament, golfers were treated to a dinner and silent auction hosted by PAX EVP & co-publisher John Kirk, along with guests from Sick Kids Hospital including Dr. Glen Van Arsdell, head of the hospital’s cardiovascular surgery department and 11-year-old patient William Cockwell, who has undergone multiple heart operations at the hospital since he was born.
Since 2014, the tournament has helped raise more than $446,500 for the hospital’s Labatt Family Heart Centre, generating $114,000 in 2014 and $150,000 last year.
