On March 28, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO’s) Board of Directors approved 12 claims against the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund totalling $52,520 to assist 35 consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid.

According to an April 12 press release, the approved Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund claims are as follows:

  • Crystal Cruises
Two claims to assist three consumers, totalling $9,557
  • Rejoice Holidays
Nine claims to assist 30 consumers, totalling $39,664
  • World Travel Inc.
One claim to assist two consumers, totalling $3,300

In addition, the following claims were denied:

  • Crystal Cruises
One claim was denied and one claim was partially denied as payment was made directly to Crystal Cruises and not to or through a TICO registrant. As well, one claim was denied as the claim was based on the cost, value or quality of the travel services received.
  • Fly Jamaica
One claim was denied as it was received beyond the legislated filing deadline date.
