#TheShowMustBePaused: PAX Live postponed for today
Pax Global Media

Dear members of the travel industry:

Pax Global Media is expressing its unwavering support of black communities around the world and stands in solidarity with our black and diverse family, friends, partners and colleagues across the industry.

Today, the music industry is observing a “blackout day” in the wake of George Floyd’s death and protests taking place in the United States. These protests have taken place in Canada, too.

“Blackout Tuesday” was initiated by music executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang to shutter normal business and observe “the long-standing racism and inequality that exists from the boardroom to the boulevard."

The initiative is being promoted today on social media through the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused, with many supporters posting a black square to show solidarity in the fight against racism.

Though it started in the music business, the movement has since spread to other sectors as well, with companies such as Nike, Netflix and Disney showing their support.

Today (June 2nd), we had plans to broadcast a live discussion on Facebook about the future of travel agencies amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The broadcast, part of our weekly PAX Live series, was to feature Virtuoso’s Tim Morgan, TDC’s Louise Fecteau and Ensemble’s David Harris.

Out of respect for the movement, and after consultation with our guests, we have decided to postpone today’s event.

All of our guests today supported this decision and they look forward to appearing on PAX Live at a later date (which we will announce shortly).

Racism is something the travel industry is not immune to and we at Pax Global Media feel we have the platform, and duty, to speak out against racial injustice.
