As Paris prepares to host the 2024 Summer Games, the capital of couture has already made sure its most iconic landmark, the Eiffel Tower, is wearing a look fitting of the international event.

The Olympic rings were mounted on the monument on Friday (June 7) to mark 50 days until athletes and sports fans alike gather in the French capital.

According to the Associated Press, the quintessential symbol of the Games is displayed on the south side of the 135-year-old tower, located in central Paris and overlooking the Seine River.

Two cranes were used to lift the structure, weighing in at 30 tons, and mount it between the first and second floors of the landmark.

Each ring measures 9 meters (30 feet) in diameter and is made of recycled French steel.

Thousands of athletes will use the Seine as their runway, parading through the city on boats as part of the sunset opening ceremony on July 26.

The Eiffel Tower, nicknamed La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), is expected to be a prominent feature during the Olympics and the Paralympics, which are set to start on Aug. 28.

Men’s and women’s beach volleyball will be played at the foot of the 330-meter (1,083-foot) monument.

The Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris are also being embedded with pieces of iron taken from the tower.

The hugely popular landmark has seen soaring visitor numbers in the leadup to the Paris Games.

In July, the city’s tourism office also revealed that up to 15.9 million people could visit the Paris region from July to September when the games take place.
