Manulife updates COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Insurance Plan

On November 27, the amount of coverage for emergency medical expenses related to COVID-19 under the Manulife "COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Insurance Plan" was increased from $200,000 to $1,000,000.

This change applies to departures on or after November 27. It does not involve any rate change.

However, the change is not retroactive and it does not apply to those who were already at their destination before that date.

In addition, insurance extensions for the same trip will retain the initial conditions.

Manulife advises that if the client's departure was scheduled for November 27 or later and the client wishes written confirmation of coverage, an endorsement indicating the medical benefit of $1 million can be provided upon request by the service team to customers at voyage@manulife.ca

Remember that the COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Insurance Plan for Canadian Travellers is designed to help travellers cover medical expenses, including medical expenses incurred after having tested positive for COVID-19 in destination.

It also includes insurance for accommodation and meals under the Trip Interruption benefit, in addition to a ticket for the return flight, if a healthcare professional instructs the insured to put it on. quarantined or self-isolate due to a positive COVID-19 test result or contact tracing.

Manulife strongly recommends that Canadians follow the recommendations of the Government of Canada and healthcare professionals around the world during the current pandemic period.

Its travel insurance for COVID-19 is nonetheless available for those who decide to travel.
