Eurocar TT making inroads in English Canada

Travel agents with clients heading to Europe have a unique option for car rentals through Montreal’s Eurocar TT, offering short-term vehicle leases for travellers.

And while the formula may not be familiar to agents and travellers living outside of Quebec, the company is looking to make inroads in English Canada, partnering with Transat Distribution Canada to bring more travel agents on board.

Founded in 2001, the business offers leases on brand new vehicles from European automakers Citroen and DS Automobiles, providing travellers with a number of benefits. While Eurocar TT also offers a regular car rental service, Eurocar’s General Manager Erwan Even explained the many advantages of the short-term lease option.

Most importantly, Even explained that with leases paid up front for the duration of a trip (contract lengths range from 13 to 175 days), there’s no hidden or extra fees involved, with a number of extras such as GPS and insurance included in the initial cost.

In addition, Eurocar TT’s lease model doesn’t charge for extra drivers and provides unlimited mileage as well as the choice of a vehicle. And unlike a rental, a lease can be easily transported across international borders, allowing travellers to expand the scope of a European roadtrip.

“When you do a buy-back with us, you get a brand new car and get the model you want,” Even said. “We have many customers coming back multiple times over the 15 years we’ve been in business. With our formula you’re covered everywhere in Europe; you can’t do this with rentals.”

Agents also stand to make more commission on a lease, Even explained, with Eurocar currently offering a 12 per cent base commission plus a special 15 per cent discount for agents. A white label site is also offered to agents, Even said, adding the lease model eliminates the need to deal with multiple claims.

“Most of the time agents think that clients want something cheap because they want to close the sale. But traditional rentals cost more because of extras and travel agents make less money on rentals.”

For bookings made before April 30, agents also get a $50 bonus while their clients save up to $100.
