Disney World revamps ride reservation system
Disney World has changed its Genie+ skip-the-line service, allowing guests to pay for rides and shows they would like to reserve up to seven days in advance if they're staying at a Disney hotel.
Genie+ is also now called Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Passes. The change took effect July 24.
“Lightning Lane passes will blend features from our current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and removing the hassle of planning during their vacation,” the Florida-based Walt Disney World Resort announced Tuesday.
The updated Lightning Lane pass will help guests make Lightning Lane plans before they arrive, choose experiences and times prior to purchasing, and book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all in a single day.
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass includes the same rides covered by Genie+ as well as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which opens June 28. A la carte Lightning Lane Single Passes will be available for the most popular attractions at each park, like Individual Lightning Lanes.
As of this week though, guests no longer have to wait for their park day to reserve attractions.
Guests staying at Disney World’s resort hotels can make selections up to seven days in advance, all at once, for up to 14 days of their stay. Other guests can make selections up to three days in advance.
Guests can also make up to three advance Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections for each day of their visit. Once they arrive at the park and complete their first experience, they can book additional experiences depending on the availability.
Lightning Lane Single Passes remain limited to two per day, like Individual Lightning Lanes are currently.
Prices and attraction times are also displayed so guests can see before purchasing passes. (Previously, guests had to purchase Genie+ before they could see availability).
The price of Disney’s Lightning Lane depends on the date and park, but the park says there will be no price increase related to the changes.
