Britain travel searches surge after Brexit

More Canadians appear to be considering travel to Britain in the wake of the ‘Brexit’ vote, as the loonie rises in value against the pound.

The Canadian Press reports that following Britain’s June 23 vote in favour of leaving the European Union, Cheapflights.ca reported a 50 per cent increase in searches regarding Canada-U.K. flights that weekend, and that interest has remained strong. The pound is expected to drop to C $1.70 over the next three months, the report said, down from a pre-Brexit projection of $2.02 by Sept. 30.

Cheapflights.ca also stated other countries are expressing a strong interest in travel to Britain; searches from the U.S. doubled, while those from China and the EU climbed 61 per cent and 30 per cent respectively.
