Brazil delays electronic visa requirement for Canadian citizens
Brazil’s Electronic Visa (e-visa) requirement for Canadian travellers that was set to activate on Jan. 10 has been postponed to April 10, 2024, according to the Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur).
The entry requirement, which also applies to travellers from Australia and the United States, was first announced in December.
The e-visa will cost USD $80.90 per person and travellers can apply for it entirely online, according to a press release that was issued at the time.
In a statement from the tourist board, the extension will give authorities more time to implement the new system and prevent interfering with the flow of tourists during the high season.
The new e-visa was developed by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the purpose of simplifying the entry process for select countries.
