Be TripWise with Allianz

Allianz Global Assistance Canada has launched a new free app to help travellers manage emergencies during their trip.

The TripWise app, available for both iOS and Android, provides useful tools that include flight status updates and local hospital searches with a GPS locator. Flights can be tracked by entering either the flight number or using the search function, providing on-time status and gate information.

Travellers can also access a database to find the closest Allianz-reviewed local healthcare provider with the phone number, address and website. The database includes 2,000 hospitals in 129 countries.

The TripWise app also allows users to find international names for common prescription medications and store a photo of their prescription label for easy reference while travelling. The medical dictionary also translates popular first aid terms in more than 15 languages.

In addition, the app provides access to updated security information from the Government of Canada and local emergency services numbers (911) for more than 195 destinations worldwide, from Afghanistan (119) to Zimbabwe (999).

“Having this kind of vital information handy when a travel emergency occurs is not only a valuable aid that can save time, it can also reduce the anxiety from being in an unfamiliar place,” says Dan Keon, Senior Director of Market Management, Allianz Global Assistance Canada.

“TripWise is also a great complement to travel insurance - which the Government of Canada recommends Canadians should have in place before leaving the country - as users can personalize the app by entering the 24/7 emergency assistance phone numbers located in their travel insurance documents or wallet card for one-touch for one-touch dialing from anywhere in the world.”

The TripWise app is free to download and use and can be accessed here. It can also be downloaded free from the App Store and Google Play.
