Basel tourism board goes viral with Pokemon video
With Pokemon GO taking the world by storm this summer, one European tourism board is capitalizing on the popularity of the mobile game with a new promotional video.
Basel Tourismus, which represents the Swiss city, recently debuted ‘Pokemon GO – The Revenge,’ a new video showcasing the destination by following a herd of real-life Pikachus (one of the game’s many collectible creatures) as they turn the tables and explore the city while attempting to collect Basel’s human residents.
The augmented reality game, released in July, requires players to follow their phone’s GPS to track down and collect Pokemon which appear at random in different locations, in addition to travelling to in-game ‘gyms’ and ‘Pokestops’ based on real-world coordinates. Basel Tourismus' website has also included a list of these locations for players visiting the city.
