ACTA announces organizational restructure
ACTA President Wendy Paradis

The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) has announced details of a new organizational restructure. The changes are the result of a review of the current structure undertaken by ACTA President Wendy Paradis since last May.

Paradis said in an email to ACTA’s members that the restructuring is aimed at better serving members across the country, being better positioned to make significant progress on strategic priorities, and simplifying and clarifying roles and responsibilities.

The new changes will see a transition to four key functional groups led by a member of ACTA’s senior management team. These groups are described as:

  • Vice President, Advocacy and Member Relations – Heather Craig-Peddie
  • Director, Education and Certification – Christine Chilton
  • Director, Marketing, Communication, Partnerships – Marco Pozzobon
  • Director, Membership – New position

The new structure will see ACTA allocate more resources to the association’s advocacy efforts by appointing a Vice President of Advocacy and Member Relations. The change will place a stronger emphasis on ACTA’s role as the main advocate for Canadian travel agencies.

Paradis also outlined the future role to be played by the new Director of Membership.

“The Director of Membership will play an integral role in the management of ACTA’s larger National and group accounts enabling ACTA’s Membership Managers to focus on supporting the members in their territory through advocacy, education, promoting your value, and connecting you to valuable business resources.”

The new territories – Western Canada, Quebec and Eastern Canada – will be staffed by full-time employees. Membership Managers are also to lead the regional councils within their respective territories. The organizational changes will have no impact on the Provincial Regional Councils or the makeup of the Board of Directors.

Paradis noted that she was available for information and further questions about the new organizational structure. She can be contacted at wparadis@acta.ca.
