Virgin Voyages smashes single-day revenue record

Virgin Voyages has posted the biggest revenue day in its history, fuelled by strong demand for the adults-only cruise line’s first Scandinavia and Baltics season.

The company said last Thursday (Aug. 13) surpassed its previous single-day revenue record, set during Black Friday 2025, as bookings surged for five new Northern Europe itineraries aboard Valiant Lady in summer 2028.

The sailings, which depart from Amsterdam, span Scandinavian capitals, Norway’s fjords and a voyage beyond the Arctic Circle.

According to Virgin Voyages, every available cabin sold out shortly after the new itineraries opened for booking. The Northern Europe season accounted for more than half of the company’s total revenue that day, nearly two years before Valiant Lady arrives in the region.

Virgin Voyages is also bringing back its Summer Season Pass, allowing travellers to combine all four Northern Europe voyages back-to-back aboard Valiant Lady.

The launch gave a significant boost to the cruise line’s August performance. Virgin said its booking pace entered Aug. 13 running 20 per cent ahead of the previous year and finished the day more than 45 per cent ahead. The 11-night Arctic Circle itinerary emerged as an early standout.

Momentum builds in 2026

The record comes amid a busy year for Virgin Voyages.

The cruise line kicked off 2026 with a record WAVE season and was named Travel + Leisure’s No. 1 mega-ship ocean cruise line for the fourth consecutive year.

Virgin also launched Boatchella, a content creator voyage in partnership with TikTok, and teamed up with Google Cloud to introduce Rovey, an AI-powered travel assistant.

The company has also provided its First Mates – Virgin’s term for travel advisors – with access to Canva tools designed to support their marketing efforts.

On board, Valiant Lady recently emerged from a refresh with new spaces and experiences, including Ariya, a new Indian dining venue. Virgin has also rolled out more than 20 new Happenings across its ships.

Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady were also positioned off the coasts of Ibiza and Iceland, respectively, for the Aug. 12 total solar eclipse.

“The best part is seeing more people discover Virgin Voyages, come back, bring their friends and then ask us, ‘Where are you taking us next?’” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, in a press release.

“That tells me we’re building something people really want to be part of. Breaking a record on a random Thursday in August seems odd until you realize all of the momentum we’ve built over the last eight months. It’s pretty incredible, but what excites me most is knowing we’re now the go-to brand for anyone traveling without kids.”

Adults drive demand

Virgin Voyages says growing interest in adults-only travel is also contributing to its momentum, particularly among travellers looking for a more curated vacation experience and those who may not have previously considered cruising.

The company pointed to Deloitte’s 2026 Summer Travel Survey, which found that while affordability concerns are keeping some Americans from travelling, those taking trips expect to spend 17 per cent more on their longest summer vacation compared with last year.

Virgin Voyages positions its inclusive model around value, with dining across more than 20 eateries, essential drinks, WiFi, group fitness classes and entertainment included in the cruise fare.

“The world needs more joy, and I’m incredibly proud that Virgin Voyages gets to create some of that for travelers,” Saverimuttu added. “To our Sailors and First Mates who have believed in us and supported us along the way, thank you. And for anyone who hasn’t sailed with us yet and is looking for an adults-only holiday, there’s a hammock with your name on it.”
