Viking Star christened in Norway

Viking’s first ocean vessel, the Viking Star, was christened in Bergen this week following the completion of its maiden voyage from Istanbul.

The ceremony took place during a city-wide celebration of Norwegian Constitution Day, an event which drew more than 20,000 guests and featured parades, parties and a public concert in the harbour. Bergen mayor Trude Drevland served as ceremonial godmother.

Viking Star’s maiden voyage began April 11, sailing from Istanbul and making stops in what will be regular ports across the Mediterranean and Western Europe, including Athens, Dubrovnik, Venice, Paris and London.
