Scenic Group launches new Discovery Yacht, Scenic Ikon
Scenic Group has announced the launch of Scenic Ikon, the newest addition to its Discovery Yacht fleet, set to debut in April 2028.
The 26,500-gross-ton vessel will accommodate up to 270 guests in 135 all-verandah suites across five decks, ranging from 34 to 250 square metres.
Purpose-built for exploration in both polar and warm-water destinations, Scenic Ikon is rated Polar Code 6 and Ice Class 1A Super. Its strengthened hull is designed for versatility across global regions.
The ship will feature two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs and superyacht Fassmer tenders to support its expedition program.
“Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered and built with our in-house shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our own dedicated Scenic crew,” said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group.
“This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team, and we are delighted to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel advisors and partners. Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unrivaled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base, the Mediterranean, to the wilds of Antarctica.”
Construction milestones include a steel-cutting ceremony in February 2025, attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and the keel laying in May 2025.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2027.
Maiden Season
Scenic Ikon will begin its inaugural sailing from Venice in April 2028, with its first voyage already sold out.
The season will run through March 2029, covering 110 ports across 21 countries and 26 new destinations, including the Mediterranean, Aegean and Egypt, Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean Fjords.
Onboard Experience
Guests will find 15 dining venues, lounges and relaxation spaces designed to reflect the brand’s all-inclusive approach.
A two-level, 1,700-square-metre Senses Rejuvenation Spa will feature thermal experiences, hydrotherapy and fitness facilities.
All voyages will include excursions, exclusive events and onboard entertainment.
Expedition Enhancements
The ship’s helicopter and submersible programs will offer new options for exploration. Complimentary helicopter flights will be available as part of early booking promotions.
Exclusive helicopter landings at golf courses, restaurants and cultural landmarks will also be introduced for Chairman’s Club members and guests in Penthouse and Owner’s Suites.
The ship’s Triton AVA-9 submersible, Scenic Neptune III, will allow underwater exploration in destinations such as Antarctica.
