Royal Caribbean cancels stops to Labadee, Haiti through end of 2026

Royal Caribbean has extended cancellations of scheduled calls to its private destination, Labadee in Haiti, through the end of 2026, reports have confirmed.

In a company statement obtained by Royal Caribbean Blog, the cruise line said it is cancelling calls in Haiti “out of an abundance of caution” through December this year.

Before that update, Royal Caribbean had already cancelled calls to Labadee through April 2026.

As a result, no Royal Caribbean ship has made a scheduled stop there since April 2025, following an earlier suspension of visits in 2024.

The update comes as Haiti sees an escalation in regional violence.

As reported in 2024, the cruises line started suspending calls to Labadee after one of Haiti’s criminal gangs, which already controlled large parts of the economy and most of Port-au-Prince, launched a series of attacks on police stations, prisons and other government buildings, deteriorating local security.

Labadee sits on the northern coast of Haiti, some 130 miles north of Port-au-Prince.

As a private destination, Labadee is only accessible to cruise ship passengers. The 260-acre beach location is fenced in and monitored by private security.

Still, Royal Caribbean hasn’t been taking any chances, closing the port of call in recent months to prioritize the safety of its guests and crew. No other cruise lines sail there.

Haiti remains under a state of emergency, declared in March 2024, amid escalating gang-related violence and civil unrest.

The Government of Canada advises against all travel to Haiti due to the risk of kidnappings, gang violence and widespread civil unrest.
