Passengers, crew safe after Norwegian Dawn runs aground

Passengers, crew safe after Norwegian Dawn runs aground

Passengers and crew aboard the Norwegian Dawn are safe, after the ship ran aground in Bermuda last night.

According to a statement by Norwegian, the ship had a temporary malfunction of its steering system at approximately 5 p.m. ET, causing the vessel to sail slightly off course as the ship was departing Bermuda, resulting in the vessel making contact with the sea bed. No injuries were reported as a result, the cruise line said. Norwegian Dawn is sailing on a seven-night Boston to Bermuda cruise with 2,443 passengers and 1,059 crew.

The ship was docked at Heritage Wharf as of this morning, where it remains fully operational with all amenities available to guests. A full inspection of the Norwegian Dawn will take place before the ship continues its voyage.
