Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has welcomed the first guests aboard its new ship Norwegian Luna, which began its inaugural transatlantic sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy, on March 10.

The vessel is scheduled to arrive in Miami on March 23, where it will begin its inaugural Caribbean season.

"Norwegian Luna is an absolutely beautiful ship and the true definition of what it means to cruise with NCL," said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

"After getting a first look at the ship, I am so excited for guests to enjoy the wide-open, outdoor spaces bringing them closer to the sea, the intimate yet thoughtful areas to retreat to and the electrifying entertainment and mouthwatering cuisine. Norwegian Luna gives guests the freedom to vacation their way and the opportunity to reconnect with those who matter most while making memorable moments along the way. I look forward to welcoming her to Miami and kicking off her inaugural Caribbean season where she will visit our resort-style private island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas and Harvest Caye in Belize."

Built as a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Luna includes several onboard attractions, including the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid waterslide and roller coaster experience.

Other family-focused features include Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement-style area with carnival games; Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course; and Horizon Park, a recreational space with lawn-style games located across the ship’s top decks.

The ship also includes a two-level Mandara Spa with treatment rooms, saunas and a thermal suite, as well as the adults-only Vibe Beach Club with cabanas, loungers and a bar.

Accommodation options range from studio, inside, oceanview and balcony staterooms to suites within The Haven by Norwegian, the brand’s private ship-within-a-ship area that includes a restaurant, lounge, bar and sundeck along with butler and concierge service.

Entertainment offerings include “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™,” a concert-style production featuring the music of Elton John, and “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™,” a multimedia show featuring acrobatics and dance.

Dining venues include Hudson’s, the Commodore Room and Indulge Food Hall, along with specialty restaurants such as Sukhothai for Thai cuisine, Onda by Scarpetta for Italian dishes, Le Bistro for French fare and Cagney’s steakhouse.

Following its christening ceremony in Miami on March 27, Norwegian Luna will operate three- and four-day Bahamas cruises as well as seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries.

Ports of call include Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

Beginning in November 2026, the ship will transition to Western Caribbean itineraries with stops in Roatán, Honduras; Cozumel, Mexico; and Harvest Caye, NCL’s private destination in Belize.

On April 6, 2027, Norwegian Luna will begin sailing from New York City, offering four- to seven-day Bermuda itineraries with overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
