Celebrity increases daily gratuities for new sailings

Celebrity Cruises has increased its daily gratuities, with updated rates taking effect as of July 29, 2026.

Under the revised gratuity structure, guests staying in Inside, Oceanview and Veranda staterooms will now pay $19.50 per person, per day.

Guests booked in Concierge Class and AquaClass accommodations will pay $20.50 per person, per day, while those staying in The Retreat will be charged $24.50 per person, per day. (All prices are in USD).

The increase raises the daily gratuity by $1.50 (USD) per person across all categories.

The update was first reported by Cruise Critic, which published a document, issued by the cruise line, announcing the changes.

“The daily gratuity is shared among dining and culinary services staff, stateroom attendants and other housekeeping services personnel, as well as staff from other departments who work behind the scenes to enhance the cruise experience,” reads the document.

Celebrity reportedly advised booked guests of the change in an email, which also outlined an opportunity to lock in the previous gratuity rates by prepaying before their voyage through My Celebrity Cruises.

“If you’d like, you’re welcome to prepay these discretionary gratuities at the current rate prior to your sailing…Otherwise, they will be conveniently applied to your onboard account daily at the new rate starting July 29, 2026.”

Reaction to the changes has been mixed.

Some passengers have criticized the short notice given before the new gratuity rates took effect, with reports suggesting some are considering removing the automatic charges and tipping crew members directly in cash instead.
