Aurora Expeditions opens voyages to children aged six & up

Aurora Expeditions is expanding its offering to families by welcoming children aged six and older aboard its purpose-built expedition ships, allowing more young travellers to experience some of the world's most remote destinations.

The move gives children the opportunity to participate in expedition cruises that take guests beyond traditional sightseeing, with experiences that include wildlife encounters, Zodiac excursions, visits to remote coastlines and cultural interactions with local communities.

The company says the initiative is designed to provide hands-on learning opportunities outside of a traditional classroom, with Aurora's Expedition Team offering educational insights throughout each voyage.

"Some of life's most meaningful lessons are learned when we step outside the classroom and experience the world for ourselves," said Katie Malone, chief marketing officer at Aurora Expeditions, in a press release.

"A child may read about a whale, a glacier or a remote community in a textbook, but seeing and experiencing these places can create a much deeper sense of curiosity, understanding and responsibility.

"By bringing generations together through shared exploration, we hope to create lifelong family memories while inspiring young travelers to care for the extraordinary places, wildlife and cultures they encounter."

Aurora said its purpose-built small expedition ships provide an intimate environment for multigenerational travel, with experienced Expedition Teams leading immersive shore excursions, wildlife experiences and onboard educational programming.

To encourage more families to book expedition voyages, Aurora is introducing savings of up to 50 per cent off the Best Available Fare for children between the ages of six and 15.
