AmaWaterways adds "Enticing Douro" to Latin Touch series for 2025
AmaWaterways has added more Douro sailings in Portugal that feature tours with Spanish-speaking guides, Latin-inspired entertainment and more.
The company’s popular Enticing Douro itinerary has been added to its Latin Touch series for 2025.
Departing on November 25, 2025, this eight-day luxury cruise aboard the 102-guest AmaDouro will journey from the pastel-coloured city of Porto, all the way to picturesque port of Vega de Terrón, Spain before returning.
Pricing starts at $3,283 per person, double. Guests can add a three-night pre-cruise Lisbon land option, inclusive of luxury accommodation, daily tours and daily breakfast, priced at $990 per person, double.
Hosted by a bilingual cruise manager, the Latin Touch Enticing Douro sailing features a daily tour with Spanish-speaking guides, daily cruise programs, the daily newsletter, and menus of exquisite dishes of local origin and first-class gastronomy – all in Spanish.
The sailing will also host Zumba classes and two evenings of festive Latin-inspired entertainment.
Highlights include a day trip to Spain’s Roman city of Salamanca, the seat of the Spanish language and a historic city dating back to medieval times; a traditional Portuguese lunch in Regua at a local quinta (country estate) for a truly authentic culinary experience followed by an afternoon tour of the Baroque-style Palacio de Mateus and its fairy-tale gardens; and exploring Porto’s UNESCO historic quarter including the near 300-year-old Cathedral, and the São Bento Railway Station, known for its blue and white tile panels depicting scenes from Portuguese history.
For lovers of wine, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about the country’s famous Port wines including at Quinta da Avessada, a fascinating interactive museum commemorating the history and culture of wine in the Alto Douro region.
For those looking for more active pursuits, AmaWaterways offers hiking to Castelo Rodrigo, a small, fortified village perched high on a hilltop with centuries-old walls, steep narrow streets and fantastic views; and choose to walk up (or down) the 686 beautifully tiled steps of the 275-year-old Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios.
