Walt Disney World raises ticket prices ahead of 'Star Wars' opening

Visiting “The Most Magical Place On Earth” just got a little pricier.

Walt Disney World is raising ticket prices around the holiday season and school breaks - two of the park’s busiest times of the year.  

A one-day base theme park ticket from Christmas Day to New Year’s Eve will now run you $159 USD ($212 CAD) — a 23 percent jump from the previous $129 USD.

Around American Thanksgiving, a one-day ticket will cost $139 USD ($185 CAD).

A four-day base theme park ticket starting July 4th also will increase by $9 USD ($12 CAD) per day.

It should be noted that there is no change to the lowest priced ticket,  which starts at $109 USD ($145 CAD) for a one-day base theme park ticket.

How much? Depends on when you go

The price jump comes as Disney prepares to open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in California and Orlando, which is expected to draw in influx of visitors.

Orlando’s Star Wars land at Hollywood Studios is scheduled to open Aug. 29th, and California’s is scheduled to debut on May 31st (although Rise of the Resistance, one of the two park’s major attractions, won’t be in operation yet. That ride will open later in 2019 in both locations).
