Fore!

More than 130 travel industry pros, from suppliers to retail travel agents to trade media, hit the links Thursday morning (July 14) at Royal Ontario Golf Club in Milton, ON, as part of the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies' (ACTA's) annual industry golf tournament.

With sunny skies and a comfortable temperature hovering in the mid-twenties: “We couldn’t have picked a better day,” Marco Pozzobon, director, marketing, communications and partnerships at ACTA, told PAX at the lively game, which kicked off at 10 a.m. EST.

PAX, equipped with our official hashtags #PAXnews and #Paxnouvelles, is roaming around the course in a golf cart all afternoon to take pictures of participants as they play 18 holes in a best ball format.

Later on, a networking reception and dinner will take place. And yes, raffle prizes will be awarded.

The popular event, which was suspended for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, marks ACTA’s first golf tournament since 2019.

One of ACTA’s four pillars is to “connect,” Pozzobon explained, calling the tournament “long overdue.”

“We’re coming out of some really serious challenges in the industry,” he said. “It’s more important than ever to reconnect, reshape and re-establish.”

“Today is the beginning of that and it feels fantastic.”

Fiona Bowen, membership manager, Western Canada, Ontario and Atlantic at ACTA, noted how it’s exciting to “be back together again and see familiar faces.”

“It’s a day for people to come together, network and forget about all their worries and just have fun,” Bowen told PAX of the tournament, ACTA’s 32nd edition.
