TICO shares annual report highlights ahead of Sept. 25 AGM

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is set to hold its annual general meeting at 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

The meeting will be held for the purpose of receiving the financial statements for the previous financial year, receiving and considering the Annual Report, electing directors, among other things,

All TICO registrants and members of the public are invited to attend while only members in good standing are entitled to vote at the meeting.

Voting members and public guests are required to register in advance of the meeting here. Registration will close on September 23, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

The materials for the meeting (agenda, minutes from last year’s meeting, business plan, the annual Report containing the audited financial statements) are available on TICO’s website.

Members who will not be attending the meeting are invited to submit written requests for proxies. The submission deadline for proxies is 5:00 p.m. on September 23, 2025.

Annual report highlights

TICO has shared some key takeaways from its 2025 report. The highlights cover:

TICO’s value

• 72 per cent of registrants are confident in TICO while 64 per cent of registrants believe TICO is valuable to them
• 80 per cent of Ontarians believe TICO is valuable to them as travel consumers

Maintaining a fair marketplace

• TICO issued 143 warnings for operating unregistered agencies
• 80 charges were laid, along with 12 years of probation ordered and three months of jail time

Consumer protection

• Ontarians reached through TICO’s awareness campaign 3,485,336 times
• 115 resolved formal written complaints
• $121,441 refunds obtained for consumers
• $402,667 claims due to consumers from Compensation Fund

The auditor general’s value-for-money audit from 2023, meanwhile, is now at 74 per cent completion of the TICO-specific action items (subject to verification)
