Ontario woman fined after pleading guilty to acting as unregistered travel agent

An Ontario woman has been fined after pleading guilty to operating as a travel agent without the required registration, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) announced on July 10.

According to a TICO-issued news bulletin, Ella Isakov pleaded guilty to one count of operating as a travel agent without being registered under Ontario's travel industry regulations.

The regulator said its investigation found that Isakov advertised and sold multi-day retreat packages that included accommodations she did not own.

Following the guilty plea, Isakov was fined $5,625, which includes a victim surcharge.

TICO pursues enforcement action against unregistered companies and individuals to help protect consumers and uphold the integrity of Ontario's travel marketplace.
