The Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO) Board of Directors on Sept. 25 approved two claims against the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund totalling $330 to assist two consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid.
The approved Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund claims are:
Temple & Temple Tours Inc - two claims to assist two consumers, totalling $330
To date, the Compensation Fund has assisted 626 consumers, totalling $137,332 in claims in relation to the closure of Temple & Temple Tours Inc.
The filing period for Temple & Temple Tours Inc. claims concluded on September 25, 2025. For more information, view the Closure Advisory.
Closure advisory - Play Airlines
TICO has also posted a closure advisory for Play Airlines, an Icelandic low-cost carrier that recently ceased operations.
Airfare purchased directly from Play Airlines, which once flew out of Hamilton, ON, or through a travel agency/booking website located outside of Ontario is not eligible for reimbursement through the Compensation Fund, TICO points out.
Affected passengers should note the Compensation Fund does not reimburse consumers for the cost of replacement travel services purchased.
Consumers who purchased Play Airlines travel services from an Ontario registered travel agency or booking website and did not receive their travel services due to the closure of the airline, may file a Compensation Fund claim for reimbursement.
Consumers may request a claim form at this link or by contacting TICO at 1-888-451-8426 or tico@tico.ca.
