ACTA’s Accessible Travel Advisor Directory is now live, offering Canadians a centralized way to find travel advisors who specialize in accessible trip planning for visible and non-visible disabilities.

The directory currently lists 34 vetted travel advisors from across Canada.

ACTA opened a formal application process in October to ensure advisors included in the directory meet defined criteria and standards.

“Accessible travel is not a niche — it is a necessity,” said Suzanne Acton-Gervais, president of ACTA.

"Every Canadian deserves the opportunity to explore the world with confidence and dignity. The launch of the Accessible Travel Advisor Directory reflects ACTA’s commitment to ensuring travellers with visible and non-visible disabilities can connect with knowledgeable and empathetic professionals who truly understand their needs.”

ACTA says the directory is designed to fill a gap by offering a trusted place for Canadians seeking accessible travel support.

It’s also intended as a referral tool for advisors who encounter clients with accessibility needs outside their own experience.

“As a person with a disability, accessible travel is deeply personal to me and is the very reason I became a travel advisor specializing in accessible travel,” said Tanya Rabe, accessibility specialist at Right Foot Adventures, and a member of ACTA’s DEIA Advisory Committee.

Rabe added that the directory is meant to give travellers a place to find qualified advisors who understand their realities, and said she hopes it reassures travellers that they “don’t have to advocate alone.”

The directory is housed in the “Find an Advisor” section of ACTA’s website.

ACTA will continue accepting qualified advisors on a rolling basis to expand the list nationwide.

To be listed, advisors must be an ACTA member in good standing, have at least two years’ advisory experience, have completed three accessible travel bookings (or one supervised accessible travel case with mentorship), and demonstrate familiarity with common accessibility considerations and challenges.
