ACTA launches Accessible Travel Advisor Directory

The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) has launched the Accessible Travel Advisor Directory — a first-of-its-kind resource that connects Canadians with travel advisors specializing in accessible travel for both visible and non-visible disabilities.

The directory will open to the public once the inaugural listing is compiled, following a one-month application period for qualified ACTA members.

The platform addresses “a critical gap in the travel industry,” says ACTA, by providing a vetted, reliable resource for travellers seeking advisors with proven expertise in accessible travel.

It aims to serve as a trusted referral tool for travel advisors who encounter clients requiring specialized accessibility support beyond their own expertise.

“Creating an inclusive travel industry means ensuring every Canadian can confidently plan and enjoy travel experiences,” said Suzanne Acton-Gervais, president of ACTA, in a press release. “The Accessible Travel Advisor Directory is not only a resource for persons with disabilities seeking to travel—it’s a direct reflection of ACTA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) priorities. By setting rigorous standards for inclusion and doing our part to build trust and remove barriers, we are advancing our mission to ensure accessibility is a cornerstone of Canada’s travel industry.”

The directory is available exclusively to active ACTA members as a complimentary member benefit.

Applications are now open through a dedicated portal, found here, with a one-month window to build a robust initial database of qualified advisors.

Ongoing applications will continue to be accepted after launch, with applicants notified of their status ahead of the public release.

ACTA says it will support the launch with a nationwide media campaign to raise awareness among Canadian travellers about this new resource and the importance of working with qualified professionals when planning accessible travel.
