Cindy Lam appointed Cathay’s senior vice president, Americas
Cindy Lam (Cathay)

Cathay has named Cindy Lam as its new senior vice president, Americas, effective Sept. 1, 2025.

In her new role, Lam will oversee the airline’s strategic vision and business operations in the region, covering passenger travel, cargo and lifestyle.

She succeeds Chris Vanden Hooven, who is retiring.

"I am honored to take on this leadership role for Cathay in the Americas, where Cathay has a long history spanning a combined over 40 years, currently serving eight passenger destinations and 16 cargo destinations," Lam said.

"The region presents tremendous opportunities for growth and innovation, and I look forward to working with our talented teams to deliver the world-class service that defines our brand while ensuring we continue to evolve and exceed the expectations of our valued customers."

Lam has been with Cathay Pacific for nearly 24 years, most recently serving as general manager, customer care, where she led the airline’s customer service strategy and operations across its global network.

Her previous roles include head of strategic planning and projects in the flight operations department, manager product for economy cabins and inflight entertainment, and leadership positions as country manager Vietnam and chief representative of the Pearl River Delta region.

Her appointment comes as Cathay grows its presence in the Americas.

In July, the airline launched a direct Dallas–Fort Worth to Hong Kong service, which will increase to daily flights in October 2025.

Cathay Pacific currently operates more than 110 return passenger flights per week between North America and Hong Kong.

In early 2026, the airline will begin operating from the new Terminal 6 at New York’s JFK Airport, where it will open its first dedicated lounge in the city and second in the U.S.
