Azamara names Alex Pinelo chief sales officer, North America

Azamara Cruises has appointed cruise industry veteran Alex Pinelo as its new chief sales officer for North America.

In the role, Pinelo will lead the cruise line's North American sales organization, overseeing sales strategy, commercial growth and relationships with travel advisors.

The appointment underscores Azamara's continued focus on expanding its brand presence across the region while strengthening its partnerships with the travel trade.

Pinelo brings more than 40 years of experience in the cruise industry to the position. He most recently served as chief sales officer at AmaWaterways.

Azamara welcomed Pinelo to the team in a LinkedIn post on Monday (Aug. 3).

“We're excited to welcome him to the Azamara family and look forward to the experience and vision he'll bring as we continue creating exceptional experiences for our guests,” the cruise line wrote.

Pinelo joins Azamara as the cruise line undergoes a sales transition. 

Last month, Sandra Pennington, formerly of Celebrity Cruises, came on board as a strategic business development manager for Eastern Canada, succeeding the recently retired Margarita Peloso.

"I’m looking forward to getting started and diving into everything that makes the Azamara brand so special," Pennington told PAX.
