Trafalgar brings Italy to Toronto theatre
Trafalgar got a little help from the silver screen this week in promoting its tours to the sunny climates of the Mediterranean.
The tour operator, in collaboration with eOne Films, welcomed its employees and travel industry partners to Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre on Thursday night for a private screening of the new comedy The Trip To Italy, starring British funnymen Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as themselves on a culinary tour of the country.
Jeff Element, president of The Travel Corporation - Canada, said the film is a natural fit for Trafalgar, which counts Italy as a top destination and, much like the film, emphasizes the experience of travellers immersing themselves in a culture as opposed to simply observing it.
“The movie ties into a lot of what we do - Italy has consistently been our number one destination for many years,” Element said. “The film will also give people a bit of an insight into what they might experience if they went to Italy with Trafalgar. In recent years we’ve focused on that insider experience, which means going out to the restaurants and living like a local, not just eating in the hotel.”
