SkyGreece promotes direct service & tourism to Croatia

In anticipation of its new service connecting Toronto to Zagreb, Croatia set to launch on June 22, SkyGreece hosted travel partners for a special event, with distinct representatives from the Republic of Croatia.

Serving Croatian wine and a variety of alternative options on how to discover the European country, the Minister of Tourism, Darko Lorencin, spoke about what having direct flights will mean for Croatia.

“It means business can start flowing. People can have business meetings in the morning, and either come back or stay longer,” he said, before passing it on to John Marion, president of the Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce.

“Croatia has been a well-kept secret for far too long,” he said, explaining the reason for the new service. “We want to now spread the good news. We want Canadians to visit Croatia, and to fall in love with Croatia.”

In 2014, Croatia has seen a 20 per cent increase of overnight stays as well as 13,000 arrivals.

Given its central location within Europe, Denis Codére, deputy chief commercial officer for SkyGreece airlines, predicted that Croatia will be the go-to European destination for Canadians within the next few years. “It’s certainly the trendy place to be, between its music festivals and its [adventure] opportunities. Once Canadians discover it, its reputation will only increase as one of the most beautiful countries of the world.”

Flights from Toronto to Zagreb will begin June 22, followed by Zagreb-Toronto service on June 24.
