Porter’s first Hamilton flights take off to Halifax & Vancouver

Porter Airlines' inaugural flights connecting Hamilton to Halifax and Vancouver take off Tuesday (June 3), operating daily nonstop roundtrip service.

Additionally, daily flights connecting Hamilton with Calgary (YYC), and Edmonton (YEG) begin June 11.

Porter's CEO Michael Deluce was at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport yesterday to celebrate the new service.

“We see significant opportunity in this market and Hamiltonians have long deserved a commitment such as what Porter is making,” Deluce wrote on LinkedIn yesterday. “The community has been incredibly supportive and with the success of these flights, we hope to expand this partnership even further.”

Deluce and his team also had a first look at the renovations Hamilton airport's terminal has undergone.

From curb to gate, passengers will notice an enhanced guest experience with expanded curb canopies, a refresh of terminal interiors from check-in counters to gate seating, new digital signage, lighting upgrades, and architectural and design finishes that create a local sense of place.

“An incredible amount of effort was made to get the airport ready for the start of service and I can tell you first hand that the renovations will have a great impact on the overall travel experience for passengers,” he wrote.

The new flights are operated with Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which means there are no middle seats on any flight. Porter’s economy air travel also features free, fast Wi-Fi, and complimentary beer, wine, and premium Canadian snacks for everyone.

“Our emphasis on providing genuine service for everyone who travels with us is an important distinction for Hamiltonians that for too long haven't received the elevated experience they deserve. We believe the community will appreciate the ability to fly closer to home and we see significant opportunities to expand our network across North America from YHM.
