Katy Perry praises Air Canada crew after witnessing in-flight emergency
Pop superstar Katy Perry has given Air Canada’s cabin crew her roar of approval in a social media post, praising their swift response to a medical emergency.
According to a statement posted to her X account on Saturday (May 23), Perry was on flight AC779 from Montreal (YUL) to Los Angeles (LAX) the previous night when she witnessed a emergency happen on the plane.
“I was so impressed with the level of attentiveness and quick action from the crew that I just want to highlight the level of professionalism and consideration they had for the passenger,” Perry wrote on her X account, which has 86.3 million followers.
“The medical situation was resolved on the flight and everyone left ok. Good for you @AirCanada!”
Air Canada responded to Perry on X, twice, by asking the Firework singer for more details and that they would share her words with the crew.

“We are sure they will be more than happy to see this,” wrote the airline’s social media team in a page of comments.
Perry, known for her era-defining pop anthems, has had more reason to spend time north of the border lately.
In October 2025, she and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple while celebrating her 41st birthday in Paris.
Perry then made things Instagram official in December, posting a photo with Trudeau. Since then, he has become a regular presence across her social media posts.
What aviation is all about
The singer’s shoutout to Air Canada’s crew over the weekend has since gone viral, with industry insiders using the attention to underscore the critical role cabin crews play in keeping passengers safe.
“This is what Cabin Crew do and what our primary role is, safety,” wrote the Air Canada Component of CUPE, which represents more than 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, on its Facebook page, sharing a screen shot of Perry’s post.
Rocky Lo, managing director of international sales at Air Canada, highlighted Perry’s post on his professional LinkedIn page.
“As a former cabin crew member at Air Canada, seeing global superstar Katy Perry publicly recognize the professionalism, care, and humanity of our flight attendants makes me incredibly proud,” Lo wrote in a post.
“Behind every flight is a dedicated crew trained not only to deliver exceptional service, but also to respond calmly and compassionately during critical moments. Stories like this are a reminder that aviation is ultimately about people taking care of people.”
“To all my cabin crew & frontline colleagues at Air Canada, thank you for everything you do every single day, often behind the scenes and under challenging circumstances.”
“Your professionalism never goes unnoticed, & proud to see your hard work recognized on a global stage.”
