Incheon Airport's Terminal 2 now welcoming travellers

South Korea’s Incheon International Airport officially opened its long-awaited Terminal 2 on Jan. 18, boasting a number of technological innovations and which will accommodate an estimated 18 million annual travellers

The new terminal will provide departing travellers with access to faster check-in with an increased number of kiosks and self-service bag drops, along with a Smart Entry Service at immigration to speed up the arrival process. To strengthen airport security, a new full body scanning machines has also introduced, while intelligent robots are deployed inside the airport to guide passengers to their gates and provide information in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.

In terms of passenger services and amenities, the new terminal offers a variety of dining options and duty-free stores. Among the amenities are nap zones, an observation deck, a Korean Traditional Culture Centre, a spa, and, fitting with the theme of a smart airport, a digital gym, which allows travellers to stay in shape with activities involving jumping, dunking and stepping. The airport also boasts an ‘IT Experience Zone’ where passengers can try out a variety of VR experiences or enjoy a coffee made by a robot.

A shuttle bus will depart every five minutes from each terminal, serving as the main transportation between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Public transportation services connecting the airport including Airport Railroad (AREX), KORAIL Korea Train Express (KTX) and airport limousine buses have rearranged their schedules and routes to further extend its services to Terminal 2.

At the moment, SkyTeam member airlines Korean Air, Delta, Air France, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are the only airlines offering servicing at Terminal 2. Departing travellers are advised to double check their airlines and flight numbers before heading to the airport as passengers who are not travelling with the aforementioned airlines will not be able to check-in at Terminal 2.
