Last month, students from Humber College’s Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism program were taken on a special tour of the new Ethiopian Airlines 787 Dreamliner at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Welcomed by the airline’s Canadian team – including Wasihun Asres (VP of human resources), David Timmins (senior sales manager) and Fasil Kasa (customer service agent) – more than 70 students participated in the special outing that was designed to engage the students and provide them with a first-hand glimpse of the airline and its offerings.
The event was also used as an opportunity to challenge the students to create a new digital marketing campaign for the airline. The top three submissions will present their campaigns to a panel of judges made up of marketing professionals and executives from the airline on Dec.12.
“This is more than just an assignment, it’s an opportunity of a lifetime that could gain these students international recognition,” said Ron Caughlin, Humber professor and VP of Strategic Planning at RadonicRodgers Strategy+, which represents Ethiopian Airlines in Canada.
