Flyte Aviation says it has received approval from Transport Canada to operate flights in and out of Canada, with Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa among its proposed destinations.
The U.S. private aviation company initially expects to connect cities in the northern and northeastern United States with the three Canadian cities, subject to airport, customs and operational requirements.
Flyte did not announce a launch date, specific routes or pricing.
The expansion builds on the company’s U.S. network and existing Caribbean destinations.
Flyte operates a fleet of Cirrus Vision Jets and offers a digital booking platform for private air travel.
“Canada is a natural extension of our growing U.S. network, and we anticipate this expansion will open meaningful opportunities to serve customers traveling between major business, leisure and cultural destinations across North America,” David Jenkins, chairman and chief executive officer of Flyte Aviation, said in a release.
The company is targeting business and leisure travellers, corporate partners and private aviation brokers seeking cross-border transportation.
Flyte says it plans to add destinations where private aviation can offer advantages on shorter trips, particularly when airport congestion, connections and ground transportation add to overall travel time.
“Private aviation should not become more complicated simply because a customer is traveling across a border,” Jenkins said.
“At Flyte, technology has a vital role in making international private travel easier to understand and access.”
The company launched its direct-to-consumer booking platform in late May and says it has since added more than 13,000 registered accounts, bringing its total platform user base to more than 20,000.
Flyte also recently announced a Partner Portal as part of its efforts to build relationships across hospitality, sports, entertainment and cultural organizations.
