Escape the cold with Kissimmee

Experience Kissimmee is offering sun-seeking travellers an opportunity to trade their mittens for mouse ears.

From now until March 27, 2016, the Central Florida hotspot is giving away three grand prize getaways to Kissimmee as part of its Escape the Cold sweepstakes.

Winners, who can bring up to three guests, will receive a vacation package that includes round-trip airfare, rental car, a five-day/four-night stay at the Fountain Resort at ChampionsGate, admission to Orlando Tree Trek, wristbands for unlimited rides at FunSpot America–Kissimmee, tickets to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, tickets to La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil and an airboat experience with Spirit of the Swamp Airboats.

“Kissimmee is a gateway to fun,” Andrew Ricketts, public relations manager at VoX International, told PAX at an afternoon media launch at Cibo Wine Bar in Toronto on Feb. 26.

With nearly 50,000 total accommodation options available, Kissimmee welcomes approximately 7 million overnight visitors from all over the world to experiences its theme parks, thrill attractions, such as the popular Gatorland (which allows guests to travel 350 feet down a zip line over a lake of alligators) and kayaking and horseback riding activities.

“Kissimmee is right next door to Orlando, so they work hand-in-hand,” said Ricketts. “The Magic Kingdom is located in Kissimmee. A lot of people don’t know that.”

The sunny destination is always improving and developing its hotels and attractions, too, noted Cari Marotta, account manager for Kissimmee at VoX International. Kissimmee also consistently has good deals for Canadians who are weary of the U.S. exchange rate. “It’s a very good value,” Marotta said.

Kissimmee’s Escape the Cold campaign recently made a bold statement at a promotional event in Chicago, where more than 1,400 people zip-lined over Millennium Park while thousands more warmed up in a Toasting Tent, where participants could enter the sweepstakes while enjoying hot chocolate.

In addition to the grand prize, daily winners in the Escape the Cold promo can win a winter survival kit containing Kissimmee-branded items, such as a scarf, hand warmers, colour-changing mug and hot cocoa.
